South African Theatre. Four Plays and an Introduction is an annotated collection of plays compiled and edited by Temple Hauptfleisch (1945-) and Ian Steadman (1951-).

Intended at the time as a compact, practical introduction to South African theatre at the time, the volume contains an introductory overview of South African theatre (plus 3 supporting appendixes), plus four plays representing four traditions of theatre active in the multicultural and multilingual country in the 1970s and early 1980s, each play is preceded by an individual introduction.
