The South African Republic (not to be confused with the Republic of South Africa) was an independent and internationally recognised state, located in and encompassing the Transvaal region of South Africa, from 1852 to 1902.

Not to be confused with the later Republic of South Africa

The republic was known as Het Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek in Dutch, die Suid-Afrikaanse Republiek in Afrikaans, and was also referred to as the ZAR or the Transvaal Republic.
