The original text

The action of the play takes place in St. Petersburg, Paris, Buenos Aires, Madrid and St. Moritz between 1909 and 1950.

Performance history in South Africa

Directed by Janice Honeyman for a run produced by Pieter Toerien in 1986. Opened on 16 March. Set and costumes designed by Johan Engels. Lighting by Jannie Swanepoel. Costume co-ordinator John Tullis. Choreography by Anton van Niekerk. Cast - Vaslav Fomitch Nijinsky, premier danseur of the Ballets Russes: acted by Robert Whitehead, danced by Anton van Niekerk. Serge Pavlovitch Diaghilev, impressario and founder of the Ballets Russes: Richard Haines. Alexandre Benois, designer for the Ballet: John Whiteley. Lydia Nelidova, member of the corps de ballet: Lynne Maree. Romola Karlova de Pulzky, society and aspirant dancer: Jana Cilliers. Second Male Dancer: Gavin Clur. First Female Dancer: Lynette Murray.
