(“Slaughter house”) by Willem Anker. A complex metatheatrical Afrikaans play about a playwright trying to write a play based on the life and works of iconic novelist Etienne Leroux (himself in the throes of writing his last – unfinished - novel), in which characters from his works confront the author with their demands for a “real” life. First produced by the Drama Department of the University of Stellenbosch, directed by Marthinus Basson, at Aardklop in 2006. Winner of the 2006 Sanlam Prize for Afrikaans Theatre. Published by Genugtig Publishers, 2007.
