He was a member of Hendrik Hanekom's first professional company, Die Afrikaanse Toneelspelers, from October 1925, playing "Jors" in Oom Gawerjal se Dogters en die Stemkoors (Uncle Gawerjal's Daughters and the Election Fever). In June 1926 when they amalgamated with Paul de Groot, he became a member of the Paul de Groot Toneelgeselskap.
He had a role in Huistoe in 1925.
