Siegfried van Hohenwart is a five-act play by Marten Westerman (1775-1852)[1].

The original text

First published in Den Haag by J.C. Leeuwestyn in 1800. Later re-published by Van Kesteren.


Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1848: First performed by Hoop en Trouw on 24th November, 1848 in the Hope Street Theatre, Cape Town, with a " Divertissement" and Sans Quartier, of Het Vergenoegen Overtreft den Rykdom (Anon).

1876: Performed by De Eendracht in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town on 10 August, with Arlequin by Toeval, of Eene Weldaad Blijft Nooit Onbeloond (Sewrin and Vreedenberg), with a backdrop created by R.S. Cooper.

1882: Performed by De Eendracht in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town, on 18 April and 19 May, with Een Nacht op Straat (Van Hoogheem).
