Shirley, Goodness and Mercy

Shirley, Goodness and Mercy by Janice Honeyman and Chris van Wyk, based on Van Wyk’s award-winning novel of the same name (2005), an account of Van Wyk’s formative years in the “coloured” township of Riverlea.

Performance history in South Africa

First performed as a playreading in the Baxter@Play series in 2006, it premiered at the Baxter Theatre in 2007, directed by Honeyman and starring Zane Meas, Chad Abrahams, Ivan Abrahams, Christo Davids, Celeste Matthews, Grant Powell, André Samuels (as Pa Nick, Oupa Frank and step-Oupa Theo Gallant}, Paul Savage, Lee-Ann van Rooi and Bronwyn van Graan.
