Begun in 2007, the festival is brought to the country by [[Teamwork Arts]]  in collaboration with the High Commission of India in South Africa and is presented in Durban and Johannesburg over a period of 4-6 weeks, usually between the months of August to October.  The hallmark of the festival has always been its focus on Music,  Dance,  Theatre  and  Literature, but increasingly there have been other additions,  such as  Yoga,  Food,  Handicrafts, Textiles and Comedy.

Begun in 2007, the festival is brought to the country by Teamwork Arts in collaboration with the High Commission of India in South Africa and is presented jointly in Durban and Johannesburg over a period of 4-6 weeks, usually between the months of August to October. The hallmark of the festival has always been its focus on Music, Dance, Theatre and Literature, but increasingly there have been other additions, such as Yoga, Food, Handicrafts, Textiles and Comedy.
