Saul Radomsky (born circa 1943). Designer.

Biography

Born in South Africa, he qualified as a Fine Art teacher, before going to Nottingham to study Theatre Design. Settled in Britain and has been a successful designer there since, having been a resident designer for the Nirthcott Theatre, Exeter, the Cambridge Theatre Company, the Oxford Playhouse Company and the Hampstead Theatre, London. He has worked all over the world, including Europe, North and South America, Australia, Asia and South Africa. After 38 years abroad, he resettled in Cape Town in 20**.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In South Africa his designs include District Six – The Musical (198*), Poison (199*), Kat and the Kings (199*, 2012), Exits and Entrances (Baxter Theatre, 2005), Coming Home , The Train Driver, The Bird Watchers (Fugard Theatre, ), Some Like it Vrot, Die Laaste Karretjiegraf (Fugard Theatre, 2013), The Shadow of the Hummingbird (Fugard Theatre, 2014).. District Six - Kanala (2016), Orpheus in Africa (2015), The Road to Mecca (2018).

Awards, etc.

He won a Fleur du Cap for Best Set and/or Props Design for The Bird Watchers, award year 2012 and was nominated in the same category for Some Like it Vrot.

Fleur du Cap Award for Lifetime Achievement, 2019.
