The acronym for the South African Committee of Performing Arts Councils

The organisation

A co-ordinating body set up in the 1980s to deal with joint issues of the five state funded Performing Arts Councils in South Africa. Have also found references to it as the South African Co-ordinating Council of Performing Arts Councils. (SACCPAC??), though this appears unlikely, since the acronym used all along seems to have been SACPAC

The Afrikaans version of the acronym is SAKRUK.

The SACPAC Prize or SACPAC Award

A prize instituted in 198* by SACPAC to encourage local playwriting by new as well as established playwrights. The reward was a large cash prize plus production of the winning plays by the five Performing Arts Councils.

The first award went to Pieter Fourie for Die Koggelaar in 1986.
