The SAADYT Newsletter was an informal publication begun by Esther van Ryswyk with the founding of the South African Association for Drama and Youth Theatre to communicate with members.

In 1979 it was converted into a more formal journal format and called the SAADYT Journal, with Temple Hauptfleisch (1979-1985) as the founding editor. The journal was published on behalf of SAADYT by the Centre for South African Theatre Research at the Human Sciences Research Council till 1987. Later editors have included Paddy Terry, *** and ***. Publishes news and articles on drama in education, theatre in education, children’s theatre, and other educational issues.
