(17**-18**) Author and translator from French to Dutch. His free translation of Molière's Les Précieuses Ridicules into Dutch as De Belagchelyke Juffers, performed in Cape Town by the amateur group Men Doet wat Men Kan on 7 th August 1819. (Later published as Belachlijke hoofsche juffers in 1889). His (English?) translation of Merrimée's Matteo Falcone was done by the W.F.H. Parker's New English Theatrical Company on 17 December 1850 in the Hope Street Theatre.
