Ruth Peffers (18**-19*) Actress, director, speech teacher and head of Speech and Drama at the College of Music, University of Cape Town , in the 1930s and 1940s.

As actress she appeared in Chekhov's The Seagull (Little Theatre, 1931), Old Maid (1939). **

As director she did Hippolytus (Little Theatre, 1931), Maeterlinck's Sister Beatrice (Little Theatre, 1933); The Pleasure Garden (Little Theatre, 1945); The Tidings Brought to Mary; Family Portrait; The Cradle Song; Marriage à la Mode. [FdV; MT]
