She studied at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München, Université Paris Sorbonne (Paris IV), Universität Frankfurt, and the University of Saskatchewan.

With her husband, Dr Hans Breuer, she is the compiler and editor of The Stellenbosch Writers website (http://www.stellenboschwriters.com/index.html - 2000 and ongoing) and the book Stellenbosch Writers (2005) .
