Biography

Born 28 September, 1954 in Hengelo Netherlands

Artistic director of Het Waterhuis, Rotterdam, Netherlands (January 1996 - January 2008)

CEO of the Theatre Company Siberia, Rotterdam, Netherlands (January 2008 - January 2012)


Currently Head of school Live performance at AFDA, Durban and director of Twist Theatre Development Projects, of which he was a founder.

Since 2013 he has been living in South Africa, lecturing at UKZN in Durban and Pietermaritzburg and directing adaptations of African novels.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Founding director and chairman of the board of Twist Theatre Projects Durban, South Africa and since 2014 he and his artistic partner, Jerry Pooe, have operated as ”Executive Producers” under the name Thambo Theatre Producers.

Head of School Live Performance AFDA Durban, South Africa (since January 2017 )

The co-editor (with Emma Durden) of Theatre Directing in South Africa, Skills and Inspirations , published by Twist Theatre Development Projects and Jacana Publishers, 2014
