One-man play by Lionel Newton and Lara Foot (1993).

Subject

Reginald Visagie from Alberton is a regular guy with a family, two cars and a swimming pool. But he dreams of his name in lights like the big stars in America. With the help of a bottle of hard tack he ends up on the stage in the annual talent competition in the school hall and he performs a series of sketches about everyday South African life - like the search for a toilet in Hillbrow.

Performance history in South Africa

Premièred in the Market Theatre in September 1993, directed by Lara Foot, with Lionel Newton as Reginald. The production later played in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
