R.Younge (18**-). British actor.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He visited the Cape in 1854 with the company led by G.V. Brooke, on their way to Australia. The company consisted of Miss Fanny Cathcart and Mr R.Younge and they performed in the Barracks Theatre during the revictualling of their vessel, along with local amateurs.

They did Othello on 1 January 1855 and he was highly praised for his interpretation of "Iago". On the 2nd he gave a solo reading and recital called A Night with Shakespeare in the Mechanical Institute. On the 5th January he performed in The Lady of Lyons, on the 8th a [presentation of various characters from Shakespeare; on the 9th Sheridan's The Stranger and Morton's The Angel in the Attic.

They left Cape Town on the 10th January 1855.
