The Potchefstroom Universiteit vir Christelike Hoër Onderwys was a medium-sized South African university located in Potchefstroom.
The Afrikaans name is also found as the Potchefstroom Universiteit vir CHO, and the institution is colloquially known by its original acronym of PUK.

History
Originally founded as a university college called the Potchefstroomse Universiteitskollege (Potchefstroom University College), generally known by the acronym PUK.
It gained full autonomy as University in 19**, and was renamed the Potchefstroom Universiteit vir Christelike Hoër Onderwys or "PU vir CHO" ("Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education"), also referred to as the Potchefstroom Universiteit vir CHO ("Potchefstroom University for CHE" - abbreviated to "PU for CHE".) However, it continued to be referred to colloquially by its original acronym of PUK throughout its existence as an independent institution.
