Port Elizabeth Amateur Operatic Club, sometimes referred to as the Port Elizabeth Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society‎, was an early amateur acting/opera club. Unfortunately, this pioneering group had an early demise which “had, unfortunately, to suspend its operations for the same sad reasons which have forced retirement upon so many concerns dependent on the continuous activities of the nimble sixpence.” Simply put, they ran out of cash.
