Playtext is a flexible term that usually refers to the unpublished text or script used for staging a theatrical performance.

However, this is also referred to as a Drama, Stage play or simply a Play by witers, critics and publishers, and encompass the formally published version of the script.

There are a number of commonly used Afrikaans equivalent terms for this, for example: Drama, Dramateks, Toneelteks, Teaterteks, Verhoogteks, Toneelstuk, Verhoogstuk and Teaterstuk.
