A theatre created on the campus of the University of Natal's Durban campus by Elizabeth Sneddon and Pieter Scholtz. Notably utilised for their landmark Natal Theatre Workshop Company's production of Welcome Msomi's Umabatha in 1970.
Originally simply known as the Open Air Theatre it was later renamed after the long-time head of the department, actor, director and playwright Pieter Scholtz.
