The Piers Nicholson Award was instituted in 1969 by the parents of the late Piers Nicholson, a promising young actor with PACOFS who was killed in a car accident .

The Piers Nicholson Award is awarded to a Free Stater who contributes continuously in the field of drama/theatre over a period of time. Experience is therefore a requirement.
