Peter Cartwright (1935–2013) [1] was a South African-born British radio, stage, television and film actor. Best known, internationally, for portraying the role of the wizard Elphias Doge in the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [2].

Biography

Cartwright was born in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa.

Youth

Went to school at St. Andrew's College in Grahamstown.

Training

Went to Britain in 1959 and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) [3] in London.

Career

Cartwright made hundreds of appearances in television, film and on radio and worked extensively in the theatre, both in the provinces and London's West End. (Wikipedia)
