Perseus and Andromeda, or the Maid and the Monster is a classical extravaganza by William Brough (1826-1870)[].

The original text

Perseus and Andromeda, or the Maid and the Monster first performed at the Royal St James Theatre, London, on 26 December 1861 and published by Thomas Hailes Lacy.

Translations and adaptations

F.C.L. Bosman (1980) lists six performances in Cape Town of a pantomime called Harlequin Prince Perseus, or The Maid and the Monster by an anonymous author. It is most likely an adapted version of Brough's play.
