Peet van Rensburg. Full names Peet Janse van Rensburg (19**-) Director, playwright and teacher.

Biography

Youth

Training

Studied at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education , obtaining a doctorate on the directing principles of Stanislavski (Van Rensburg 1977), which has been quite widely used by Afrikaans drama students over the years.

Career

Taught drama at the Drama Department at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education for 35 years, till its closure in 198*. Then became a freelance director, adaptor and playwright.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Among his works were an adaptation of Dalene Matthee's popular novel Kringe in 'n Bos, a production of Amadeus for PACOFS and widely used translations of popular plays such as Ray Cooney's Run for your Wife, under the title My Vrou se Man se Vrou.
