Peace in the Valley is a musical by Jerry Pooe set in Kwa-Mashu. It is a reworking of Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story in South African terms. Written in 1999, it toured the Free State, played at the BAT-centre, at the Natal Technikon and opened at the Natal Playhouse on 25 February 2000. Directed by Pooe, with musical direction by Tu Nokwe and choreography by Boyzie Cekwana. It played in the USA and Canada in 2000.
