Paula Styger (1913-2000). Actress, journalist, commercial artist and advertising manager.
Born in Burgersdorp, she was a distant relative of André Huguenet’s.
In 1944, after a serious operation, she bid the stage farewell and turned to commercial art and the publicity and marketing sector. However, she still acted in films for Pierre De Wet (e.g. Pinkie se Erfenis, 1946).
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Paula made her debut as actress for Huguenet in Haar Egskeiding (“Her divorce”) in 1935. Other productions include Ek het ‘n man vermoor (1935), Gevaarlike Huwelik (1935), Dorothy Brandon’s Die Kwaksalwer (1939), Satansloon (1942), Helshoogte (1943), Die Goeie Oue Tyd (1944), Nag het die Wind Gebring (NTO 1948).
Her substantial radio work, include Agamemnon (1944).
