DU TOIT, Paul. (1974- ) Actor. Born and raised in Somerset West, to a theatrical family (his mother wrote and produced musicals), he started as a child actor in local productions. Studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch until 1995 before moving into the professional field, working for Pieter Toerien Productions as well as other independent companies. Productions include ***, The Parrot Woman (Charles J. Fourie, 199*), Honk!, 2000, * Auditioning Angels (Pieter-Dirk Uys, 2003). Also, collaborating with Anton Luitingh, performed in a range of revues, including ** Not**

Quoted from the programme notes of The Elephant Man wherein Paul played the role of Lord John and understudied Kevin Smith as John Merrick: 'Paul du Toit completed his BA Drama (Honours) at Stellenbosch University in 1996. He was a Fleur du Cap Award nominee in 1996 (most promising student). In 1997 Paul played Cleomenes in The Winter's Tale and Jack in Into the Woods, both for CAPAB. Later he was cast as the lead in Pieter Toerien's production of Doowah Boys 2. In 1998 he was a Vita Award Nominee (Best Actor) for another Pieter Toerien Production, Old Wicked Songs.'
