After getting a BA, Owen Pegram started teaching at a school in Simons Town where he ran into trouble for wanting to start a theatre group. After several attempts to obtain a passport to leave South Africa he finally succeeded.  After leaving the county, he was not allowed to return. He became a professor at Cambridge and worked with the BBC radio. He was always involved with theatre, especially in children’s theatre.
