An iconic South African character, created by journalist, writer and playwright [[Herman Charles Bosman]] as the raconteur of his wonderful series of English stories about the Great Marico area of the Transvaal.  The character has featured in a few plays and especially in the many one-man performances over the years by a variety of performers, including  [[Percy Sieff]], [[Patrick Mynhardt]], and [[David Muller]] (in the original English) and [[Paul Luckhoff]] (in [[Afrikaans]], 2015).
