On Approval is a play by English dramatist Frederick Lonsdale (1881 - 1954)[1].

It premiered at the Gaiety Theatre, New York, on 18 October 1926 where it ran for 96 performances. It opened in the West End of London at the Fortune Theatre on 19 April 1927 and ran until 2 June 1928.

Performance history in South Africa

1939: The play was presented for the opening of the Witwatersrand Technical College Little Theatre in November, produced by Anna Romain Hoffman.

1976: West End director Frith Banbury staged this play for Toerien-Firth Company in 1976 starring Richard Todd (The Duke of Bristol), Moyra Fraser (Maria Wislack), Amanda Reiss (Helen Hayle) and Barry Justice (Richard Halton). Sets and costumes by Anthony Holland.
