Oedipus (Oidipus) is a tragic play in Latin by Seneca.
The original text
It was written by Lucius Annaeus Seneca at some time during the 1st century AD. A retelling of the story of Oedipus, as found in Oedipus the King by Sophocles. It was not intended to be performed, but rather to be recited at private gatherings.
However, the text has been very influential, the source of a number of adaptations itself, including Oedipus by Ted Hughes (1969), Oedipus by Hugo Claus (19**),
