A paly for schools about a girl's conflict between her love for Debula and her respect for her father, who has betrothed her to an unattractive crippled man to pay off debt. Before she can elope she drowns accidentally.

Published by Voortrekker Pers, 1967.

Translated into Zulu as uNyoni ("Bird") by M.B. Khumalo and published by Educum in 1986.
