{Night Was Our Friend} is a two-act play by Michael Pertwee.

The original text

This psychological thriller is set in the lounge of the Raynor's cottage in Surrey. An interesting feature of the play is that it had a "flash-back".

Performance history in South Africa

September 26 - October 9, 1962: Night Was Our Friend was presented by PEMADS at the Little Theatre, Port Elizabeth, and was produced by Cecil Steyn.

The cast included Edith Porter (Kate), Rosemary Shorrock (Sally Raynor), Jim Shorrock (Martin Raynor), Phyllis Taylor (Emily Raynor), Albert Clarke (Dr Glanville), Colin Ward (Cooper), and Paul Dane (Dr John Harper).
