Nigel Maister (19*-). Actor, playwright, poet.

Training

Studied at the University of Cape Town Drama Department

Career

Nigel Maister is the Russell and Ruth Peck Artistic Director of the University of Rochester's International Theater Program and has been the director of the theatre program since 2002 [1].

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student he played in Ek is Herman and Zones of Peace.

He wrote the plays Nongqoawuse A Treachery of Winds and Faust - Part III. He created the music for Thina Bantu - We People.

Awards, etc

Winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Most Promising Student in 1989. He received the FNB Vita Award for Nongqoawuse A Treachery of Winds.
