New Men and Old Acres is a comedy in three acts by Tom Taylor ( 1817–1880)[1] and Augustus W. Dubourg (1830?-1910)[2]

In South Africa it was billed as New Men and Old Acres, or A Managing Mamma (and credited to Taylor only) by Disney Roebuck's company.

The original text

First performed at the Theatre Royal, Manchester, Friday, Aug. 20, 1869, and at the Haymarket theatre, London on Monday, October 25, 1869.

Published by Robert M. De Witt, New York as New Men and Old Acres ("A comedy in three acts by Tom Taylor and A. Dubourg") in 1869, appearing in the Series:De Witt's Acting Plays (No.115).

Performance history in South Africa

1873: Performed as New Men and Old Acres, or A Managing Mamma by Disney Roebuck and his company in the Mutual Hall, Cape Town, on 22 and 24 December.

1875: Performed as New Men and Old Acres, or A Managing Mamma by Disney Roebuck and his company in the Bijou Theatre, Cape Town, on 14 May.

1876: Performed as New Men and Old Acres, or A Managing Mamma by Disney Roebuck and his company in the Theatre Royal, Burg Street, Cape Town, on 21 June.
