Full names Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela. Widely known as Madiba in later years. (1918-2013) Lawyer, activist, politician, president of the ANC, first President of the post-Apartheid South Africa and international pacifist and icon.

Born As a young man he was a boxer and a male model. Also performed a role in the film ***. ???** In prison he participated in performances ***??. As President his inauguration is one of the major performance pieces of the twentieth century, and as a performer on the world stage, he became an icon of the late twentieth century. ??**
