Biography
Nathie left school to become a boilermaker, but soon discovered that acting and the theatre was in his blood.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He wrote and directed a play called Let It Be Mthembeni and then joined the Umzansi Arts Centre in Claremont, Durban, where he later became involved in several productions.
He appeared in the Playhouse production of the one-act play by Harold Pinter Mountain Language, then in Brenda Radloff's outreach programme to tbe schools, appearing in Macbeth. He has also appeared in Nongogo, which earned him a national nomination. Nathie has a preference for children's theatre.
Then came his association with Garth Anderson and the Actor's Co-op, resulting in the widely accalimed Minerva Children which he helped co-write. He did some teaching and is actively involved in the Performing Arts in a Container programme. which takes productions out to the townships and to people who cannot (or do not) want to make the trip to the city.
Awards
He has been nominated for the SAA Young Artist Award and is one of Durban's most promising actors.
