A play based on the true story of [[Ellen Pakkies]], a seemingly ordinary woman living in a notoriously violent area named Lavender Hill, in the vicinity of Cape Town, who murdered her beloved son Adam, or 'Abie' as she called him, a crystal metaphetatimine (tik) addict.

The story created an international stir in 2007 and 2008 and continued to do so for years afterwards. Two international doctorates were written about her and, besides this play, a documentary about her won film-maker Michael Duffet a South African Journalism Award and a feature film called ''[[Ellen: Die Ellen Pakkies Stories]] was released in 2018.

The bilingual play My Naam/My Name is Ellen Pakkies, written and directed by Lizz Meiring, is coming to the Joburg Promusica Main Theatre on Friday, 4 May and Saturday, 5 May at 20:00.
