Mrs Westcott

(17**-18**) Semi-professional actress. The wife of a boot and shoemaker, with a shop at 2 Shortmarket Street, Cape Town. [This is possibly the stage manager Mr H. Westcott and they are perhaps the parents of Miss Westcott ?]. She was an important member of the company All the World's a Stage and highly regarded in Cape Town as actress and for her general involvement in the theatrical and philanthopic enterprises. Later she also appeared for the Garrison Company.

She played the lead in Jane Shore, or The Unfortunate Favourite) in 1831; "Imogene" in Maturin's tragedy Bertram, or The Castle of St Aldobrand (this was a benefit performance for Mrs Westcott, and was to have taken place on 2 December, 1832, but had to postponed till 30th March 1833); "Belvidera" in Otway's Venice Preserved;

On 8th October 1835 another benefit performance (of The Magpie and the Maid and Love, Law and Physic) was held for her by the officers of the 98th Regiment (the Garrison Players).
