In a review of a performance on 25 January 1818, the visiting actress Mrs Cooke's performance is said to recall memories of "our lamented Comic Actress Mrs Jordan..." who apparently had "extraordinary powers, particularly in her favorite Character of 'Nel' in the Afterpiece The Devil to Pay"
