Born in Amsterdam as Henriëtta Cornelia Minetta Van Lier in 1861, she became the second wife of the South Africa-based [[Dutch]] businessman Johannes Hendrik Eliza Bal (1850-1914)[https://repository.up.ac.za/bitstream/handle/2263/14265/001_Titelblad-p19.pdf?sequence=2&isAllowed=y] in 1894.
 
 
 
Henrietta herself died in 1939.
