(17**-18**) Wine merchant and theatre owner. His wineshop in Roeland Street doubled as a theatre, fitted with seats, stage etc. Used primarily by Dutch amateur companies in Cape Town (e.g. Tot Nut en Vermaak between 1842-1847), it was referred to as the Roelandstraat-Skouburg (Roeland Street Theatre).
