(17*-18*) Professor of Music and conductor, musical director. He directed the orchestra for a number of productions in Cape Town in the first half of the 19th century. For example he composed and directed all the music for H. Booth's production of Castle Spectre, with the All the World's a Stage company, performed 6 March. On 1 May 1830 the company English Theatricals offered a benefit performance for him, doing The Weathercock and The Citizen . White himself participated in the musical interlude.
