Mr McConkey's Suitcase is a one-act play by Geraldine Aron (1941-).

The original text

One of Aron's "Irish" plays, it deals with the efforts of a daughter to escape her mother’s stifling influence, which come to fruition when a defrocked priest arrives to lodge in their boarding-house.

First published in the collection Seven Plays and Four Monologues (Aron, 1985).

Performance history in South Africa

1977: First performed as part of a Triple Bill with The Shrinking of Alby Chapman and Bar and Ger in the Baxter Theatre Studio. Directed by Glynn Day, starring Pippa Duffy, Glynn Day, Rita Zazeraj, Lynn Banner, Dermod Judge, Chris McWilliams, Erica Benn and Ron Fenton. (According to John Ramsdale, he played "Abdul Solanki" in October of that year).
