Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He is first mentioned by Bosman (1980) in 1858, when he played supporting roles for J.E.H. English, being specifically mentioned as "The Baron Giordano Martelli" in J.E.H. English's production of The Corsican Brothers (Grangé and De Montépin) on 21 September and 1 October, 1858.
He was a member of the short lived Phoenix Dramatic Club, in Cape Town in 1865, and is mentioned as a performer in the club's first presentation, on 27 June, 1865 in the Theatre Royal, when he played one of the three leads in The Irish Attorney, or Galway Practice (Bernard).
