First performed at the Théâtre du Vaudeville, Paris, 22 July 1799 and published in Paris by Barba in 1802.

1803: Possibly the text performed as Le Directeur de Comedie by Monsieur Delemery and members of the Het Fransche Liefhebbery Geselschap ("The French Amateur Company") in the African Theatre, Cape Town on 29 October, 1803, with Pygmalion (Rousseau).
