He is a 2001 graduate of the Market Theatre Laboratory.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Plays directed include Promised Land of Balalatladi by Omphile Molusi (2009), also directed it for the 11th New Visions/New Voices festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, 2010) and Sizwe Bansi is Dead (2011).

Motshabi’s body of work includes Echoes (2006), Obone Eng (2007) and Chasing Laughter (2008). They have been performed on several stages to critical acclaim, including at the Soweto Theatre and the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town. He also wrote Ankobia (2017).
