In 1985 [[Bobby Heaney]] directed a controversial production of the play, in which the servant John is black and Miss Julie a white landowner's daughter. It was filmed in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa and released on the 29 May 1986 in Finland.

Miss Julie (1985)
