A stage version of Lionel Abrahams's 1949 novel Mine Boy, dealing with the story of a rural labourer who goes to work on the gold mines in Johannesburg.
There have two adaptations of the novel:
Mine Boy The one-act play
Performed by the Durban Medical Students' Group from 20 to 23 April, 1955.
Mine Boy The musical
The adaptation, directed by Roel Twijnstra and Jerry Pooe , was produced in 2014 by Eager Artists (the resident company of the Wushwini Arts and Heritage Centre) and The Stable Theatre, with choreography by Sphiso Majola and the cast. Design and video projections are by Doung Jahangeer, photographs by Dean Hutton.
